Why Indonesia

Indonesia’s 270-million consumer base has embraced Korean noodles, snacks and beverages, with K-food a top performer in modern trade and e-commerce. Because BPOM registration and halal rules take time, importers who prepare early win the shelf space.

Product registration in Indonesia

Competent authority: BPOM (Food & Drug Authority) / BPJPH for halal
1

BPOM ML registration

Every imported food SKU needs a BPOM ML number issued under the Indonesian importer’s name, with factory audits or documents from the Korean maker.

2

Halal certification

Indonesia is phasing in mandatory halal certification (BPJPH) for foods; non-halal products must be clearly labelled as such.

3

Indonesian labelling

Labels in Bahasa Indonesia with the ML number, importer identity and ingredient/allergen list are checked at market surveillance.

Typical lead time: Plan 2–6 months per SKU for BPOM ML (plus halal where required) — start registration well before your launch window.

Duties & taxes

Import duty

With an AKFTA certificate of origin many Korean processed foods enter Indonesia around the 5% level or lower, while some categories keep higher MFN rates — confirm by HS code before costing.

VAT / sales tax

Indonesian VAT (PPN) is 11%, charged at import on CIF + duty.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need product registration to import Korean food to Indonesia?

Yes — and it is the long pole. Every SKU needs a BPOM ML number before import, and halal certification is being phased in as mandatory. TY has processed Korean factory dossiers for BPOM filings and helps you sequence registration so freight is ready the day approval lands.

How long does shipping from Korea to Indonesia take?

LCL from Busan to JAKARTA takes about 10 days port-to-port. Add customs clearance and inland delivery for the full door-to-door DDP timeline. We consolidate weekly, so small first orders move fast.

What does DDP shipping mean for my order?

DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) means one all-in price to your door: pickup in Korea, ocean or air freight, customs clearance, import duty and taxes, and final delivery. You see your total landed cost before you commit to the order.
